Rhythm Rulz (DVD)

Your students will enjoy learning to count and play rhythms by using Rhythm Rulz just a few minutes a week. 230 rhythm slides allow music educators and private instructors to teach and practice rhythm counting with their students. Rhythm Rulz uses tried and true rhythm flashcard concepts, but updates them with 21st century technology. By adding the innovative “Rhythm Ruler” to the rhythms, students will understand duration (length of note) much more quickly and thoroughly. Rhythm Rulz software is designed for use with your band, orchestra, or choir class, yet is flexible enough to be used by individual students.

Rhythm Rulz teaches students with visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles. It presents rhythms in a logical sequence. Students understand the rhythms from a cognitive standpoint through the use of the “Rhythm Ruler” and the “down-up arrows.” Regular practice with the rhythm slides reinforces counting as a psychomotor skill. It is easy to count, clap, or play the rhythms as a class.

Rhythm Rulz works with any counting method. However, two counting systems are included: 1) the traditional “1 E + A” and an exceptionally effective “down-up” system that relates counting to foot taps.

The Rhythm Rulz DVD plays on commercial DVD players or on your computer. It offers movies that play the rhythms in a “movie” with a metronome soundtrack. This encourages the development of “speed-reading” rhythms. Music educators who use the Rhythm Rulz DVD may wish to purchase the Rhythm Rulz CD-ROM, which is playable on your home, office, or school Mac or PC. Also available is the downloadable version of Rhythm Rulz, which uses the same software offered on the CD-ROM, but is available for immediate download and use.

Developed by life-long music educator, Dr. J. Steven Moore, this original and creative teaching tool has helped thousands of students become independent rhythm readers. Dr. Moore’s middle school and high school bands regularly placed record numbers of students in all-state and regional honor bands as a result of their exceptional sight-reading skills.
